Brachial Plexus Injury

If your baby has suffered a brachial plexus injury during birth (shoulder dystonia) they will be at risk for a loss of movement and sensation in their arm on the affected side. Once this injury has been diagnosed, treatment should begin as soon as possible to decrease the probability of joint and muscle tightness from occurring, and to being work on improving function. During treatment I will focus on strengthening the affected muscles, addressing any muscular tightness that is present, and promoting overall symmetrical movement and functional skills.
